First matach of the season

August 25, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Ok so the rugby pre-season friendly on friday night didn’t accourding to plan.

The night started well, I got to ards rugby ground for about 6.30 and we all went out for our worm up.  It started to rain.  Not a problem it is Newtownards after all and we expect this sort of thing.  we do the worm up and it goes well.

Match time come round, 7.30 kick of, the Reg does his bit about the rules etc and we get under way.  It starts well for Bangor for the frist 15 minutes we are running at 200%, cometting well and looking strong everywere.  But then it all starts to fall appart.  Ards back line get quick ball to the wing and they are in for a try.  It was a tight match the would way through it  and you see the review of the match here .

The one major down side to the match was the ref.  As it was a friend he was form Ards club and boy could you tell he was.  Every time we started to build mamentime he blow up, and there where time it was for f*&k all.  I mean he pind one of the my team mate for tackeling on the ards players, and came of with some bullshit about my team mate was off his feet.  Also during the game at two different points Bangor had men down injured, its rugby it happens, but when the ref notices he normally stops play until the play is back on this feet or has left the field.  Not this twat, 3 to 5 minute are players where on the deck and it was only when the nearly got stood on that he stopped paly.

The worst thing about the ref was that when he was telling you what he was pinning you for it was like being shouted at by an old style army sargent major.  I mean it was like being brough to the headmaster office in primary school.

F*&k it its over and done with and the it a new week for training etc.

Getting to work

August 21, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Today I probable had one of the best runs into work in Months.

This was for a few reason, 1) it was dry.  By dry I mean it wasn’t raining, but parts of the roads where between wet and damp. 2) My dads bike felt perfect, you know when everything feels right and you just know that it is perfect. Finaly there was hardly any traffic which meant that I could cruse between 55 and 60 mph, until I got to 30 zone and then it was speed limit time.

God it was nice to get to work like that.

Rugby time

August 14, 2009 · 2 Comments

Ok so its that time of year again.  I’m training twice a week and felling fitter and stronger then ever.  So far no injuries realting to rugby, but that could all change next Firday.

I’m on the squad to play Newtownard.  It a major gruge match as Newtownard is the nearest town to us and everytime we play its a hard match. I’ve only played against Ards once before and that was a few years ago.  I wasn’t as fit as I am now, but it was hard going.

And on the down side my boots (only a year old) are pissing my off.  One fo the studs came out in training last night, and I tought that the screw section might have been broken, but I was wrong.  I clean it out this morning as I was going to bring them to a shoe repaire shop to see if they could do anything about it and discovered that the whole screw section was out. That was better than I though, grabed a spaire stud and screwed it in. When the strud was in place I gave it a bit of a tug and out it came.

Now I’m no stud expert, but I better that this means a new pair of boots.  I really hope not as they are only a year old.

Back in the saddle again.

Ok so its about 3 weeks since I did an inpression of a young clark kent learning to fly.  Since then I have driving 4 wheels.  Yes it was nice to have metal around me for safty and the ability to listen the music on the way to and home from work.  BUT THANK GOD I’m back ont two wheels.

So my dad very kindly (or stupidly on my last years recond) has lent me his limited edition 1987 yamaha FZR 750.  This is a lovely bike, a race at hart and soul with no signs of age (give a few months).

On the way to work this morning while getting use a not only a new bike a different manufacuter altogether I notice that I was leaving more of a gape and my speed was down a bit.  This wasn’t deliberate it was just happening.  I didn’t tey to push my luck at all in any situation or two reason.

1) My wife isn’t over the moon about me being back on a bike.  This was proven by when she told me that her dad had give up ridding a motorbike when he came off and though that you only have so much luck, and she didn’t want to be on her own.

2) The bike is on lone.  It not mine.  I am aloude to use it until I can afford to get a new bike or fix up the very very very badly damage 600 that is in his garage.

So hears to a new start on the bikes.
