Technology and mylife

August 8, 2008 · 4 Comments

Ok so I’ve had a few problems with my Internet of late.  It all started a few month’s ogo when the wireless stop working.  It was a bit a pain but I really didn’t mind as the Rebellion (my computer) could still get the net wire the wire.  It pissed lyn’s off a bit as she dosn’t like the mess of the mess of the comptuer room.

So we get a Linksys route from the father in law and after a few hours configing and settling in time I tried the get the laptop on the wireless.  So it seen the wireless but not the internet.  No Biggy Reboot of the router and laptop but still nothing.  Lyn’s constally asking “when’s it going to be working??”  “whats wrongwith it??”  and startments link “you ment to be a geek get it work” and my personal faverate “and you do this for a living” all in jest but not the most help full of things.  There was also the problem that the internet wasn’t stable on Rebellion.

So after a few weeks of checking double checking the config, checking the lights on the router, I finally check to talktalk website and the trusted list of wireless routers.  Linksys isn’t on it.  I get a belkin wirelss router from my dad.  Plug it in last night, 20 minute to configure it and hay presto solid internet access and wireless streaight away.

Now I’m not the greatest of geeks but understand enough about router’s etc to be totally confused of this. How can an ISP lock out certian routers???  OK most of you probably think that the Linksys is fault.  But its not I set it up for Lynsey’s dad and it work for about 6 months never droping the net once, or having any problem with the wireless connection.

This leads me on to my second prolbem.  Why is it when I get out my laptop to do things like surf the net, or just generally tinker with it that I get a voice in my ear.

“Can I use it when your done?”  When this voice 10 minute ago didn’t even show any interest in technology or the internet?

Microsoft Plan for VISTA

August 5, 2008 · 2 Comments

Ok, any one who has been exposed to computer in the last two years will know that Microsoft has very unsucsessfully tryed to launch its next generation of Operation System, Windows Vista.

So this was Microsoft orignal plan.  People need a new OS and will flock to it.

This was the IT industrays responce to Vista, no thanks. It looks shiny and new but its a pill of steeming dog poo. The general public went Do I really need this? I dont really like it.

So Microsoft then came up with Plan B.  We will keep XP alive as long as it take to get everyone on borad with Vista. Maybe a few months.

IT industry breath a sigh of releave a few more years of XP thank GOD. Home users Yeah told you Microsoft would listen.

Microsoft come up with Plan C. ”We’ve had enought of this no more XP force everyone to go to Vista.” Through teddy out pram and spit out the dummy, go screaming to BIll G.  “Those nastly people dont want my new shiny version of windows that we think they realy realy realy need”. Bill G ” I dont care not my prolbem Steve”.

Steve tells everyone “Tought You will adopt teh b”£%&^d child Vista or die. Marketing get this sorted now”

Microsoft market departmet “Lets make up some facts.  Vista is good the public will beleive that want they.”

Back in the real world “OH NO WE WONT”

Marketing “hears more bullshit to swallow”

Real world “no thinks we want XP it was trusted, good and starble.  Plus it didn’t coast me the world to get a computer it will run on”

Marketing “But Vista will run on you old computer”

Real world ” OH no it bloody wont”.

Marketing” Tought you have no choice XP is dead, we killed it off and you have to live with that.  We Win”

So that was how vista come to the world.

Microsoft honstly beleive that we are chumps that will buy there crap.  I’ve been involded with Computers for over 10 years now and remember something like this before call “WINDOWS ME”  basically a completatly f*&%$d version of Windows 98 second edition.  But unlike the current top brass and marketing team at Microsoft they let ME disapear with a quite sealing of the dungon door.  Now of the YOU WILL LIKE OUR NEW OPERATION SYSTEM crap that come with Vista.  ME just got locked in the dungon and never mention again.

So my questoin is this.  If Microsoft exc’s have been saying we will never make the same mistakes again with an OS, why did they not just lock Vista in the dungon and let it die until they lunched Windows 7????
