Ok so I’ve had a few problems with my Internet of late. It all started a few month’s ogo when the wireless stop working. It was a bit a pain but I really didn’t mind as the Rebellion (my computer) could still get the net wire the wire. It pissed lyn’s off a bit as she dosn’t like the mess of the mess of the comptuer room.
So we get a Linksys route from the father in law and after a few hours configing and settling in time I tried the get the laptop on the wireless. So it seen the wireless but not the internet. No Biggy Reboot of the router and laptop but still nothing. Lyn’s constally asking “when’s it going to be working??” “whats wrongwith it??” and startments link “you ment to be a geek get it work” and my personal faverate “and you do this for a living” all in jest but not the most help full of things. There was also the problem that the internet wasn’t stable on Rebellion.
So after a few weeks of checking double checking the config, checking the lights on the router, I finally check to talktalk website and the trusted list of wireless routers. Linksys isn’t on it. I get a belkin wirelss router from my dad. Plug it in last night, 20 minute to configure it and hay presto solid internet access and wireless streaight away.
Now I’m not the greatest of geeks but understand enough about router’s etc to be totally confused of this. How can an ISP lock out certian routers??? OK most of you probably think that the Linksys is fault. But its not I set it up for Lynsey’s dad and it work for about 6 months never droping the net once, or having any problem with the wireless connection.
This leads me on to my second prolbem. Why is it when I get out my laptop to do things like surf the net, or just generally tinker with it that I get a voice in my ear.
“Can I use it when your done?” When this voice 10 minute ago didn’t even show any interest in technology or the internet?
