Good Ideas in Theory

August 30, 2007 · Leave a Comment

I spoke to my dad the other day (when he was doing the brakes on the Kawaker) and told him my idea for stripping the bike and spraying the frame.  The look tole me every thing followed by the words “dont be stupid”, the was after asking how hard it would be to take the enginee out.

With my dad knowing that he would probably endup doing most of the hard work, I new it was time to drop the supject.  So instead I’m just going to paint the few sections of the engine that are visable, and degrece the swing arm and polish it up.  The wheels might get done but that is still up for debate.
But before all that I have to get it through the M.O.T and stop the exchoust melting thought the bellypan.  Unfortinatly the only time that I can help my dad work on the bellypan is Sunday and thats the day before Lynsyes birthday and she want to do something special that day.

So I can do one of two things. Work with my dad on the bike, learn more about machanics and have a happy life with my bike OR drope the bike at my fokes house, leave my dad to sort it (after all he will be doing most of the work anyway) and keep Lynsey happy.

It was good in theory work on the bike on Sunday.

I hate THEORY, it never talks to reality.  Do you think they got married at the  dawn of time, but now hate each other but refuse to get decoriced as they cant decied which get the hang out with Time????

Ireland V Italy

August 28, 2007 · Leave a Comment

On Firday I had tickets to see Ireland play Italy at Ravenhill Park in belfast. It was the first time in 57 year that Ireland had played at Ulsters home Ground.  So tickets where like hens teeth.  Infact gold dust was easier to get hold of.

Lysney,  Carolin, Mathew and myself arrived at Ravenhill about 6.30pm an hour before the game kicked off.  We got park in the High school just behind the grounds thanks to Mathew scoring a parking pass from work, this saved having to work for miles and we got in really quickly.  So 30 seconds after leaving the car we where in the grounds and making our way to the tempary stand.  We get to see to Irish team worm up and were about 5 feet way from them.

Still having 1/4 hour to kill we thought we would get some beer in and take them to seat and then joy the last of the days sun.  How wrong we where, as it was a temporary stand (a few houndred seats on some pritty strong scafolding) we werent aloughed beer on the stand, so we drank them bay the game, poor Mathew had to down 3 guinness (or guiniee as mathew called them).

7.15 we took our seats and weight for the game to begin.  We where behine the post so the seats whern’t be the best in the world but they where the only one I could get.  There wasn’t an empty seat at Ravenhill.  7.30 the game kicks off and Italy are playing with the wind in their favour.  It should have been a game to remember but its was a exciting as watching paint dry.  A penilties for both teams opened the scoring and Ireland won the ball form a lineout in there own 22 and strarted a major run, they score a fantasic try, but the reff blow up for a penilty to Italy for some stupid reason.  Look like a good strat by Ireland, but how wrong I was,  Irealnd got a lucky try in the last 10 of the first half, then Italy got a try in the second and they opened up a bit of lead which they held until the last minutes of the added time the second half, when O’Garra when over for a try and converted it to leave the final score 23-20 to Ireland.

To be honest I had started to leave about 2 minutes before Ireland socred as it look to be all over, I was just getting to the end of the stand when O’Gara when over for the try.  It was one of the slowest games of rugby I’ve seen or played in.

I know that Ireland didn’t have Brian O’driscal or Shaine Horgan playing due to injory but my god, I was a disapointing game.

I honest dont now how Ireland are going to do anying in the world cup (which kicks off in a about 10 days time) if they play the way they have been for the last few games, a lost to Scotland (one of the worst times in the northern hemispher) and a slopy win over Italy again not a great team.

I would love to know what has happened to Ireland after the 6 nations it was Ireland could get to the semi, or even the final this year, but now we will be luck to get out of the qualifing stagest as we have Italy, France and Argentina in our group.  Personally I think its the hards group of the world cup.

Dont get we wrong I support Ireland all the way, I just dont understand how they could have played so badly against a team that 3 years ago could only bet scotland.

Not much posting

August 22, 2007 · 1 Comment

So I’ve not had much to blog about resently.  Mostly because I’ve not had much to talk about, come to think about it hardly any of my mate have been blogging much either.

After much consideration (and listening to everyone telling me I’ll look like a chav) I’ve decided that I’m not going to paint the motorbike wheels gold, but I’m thinking of doing them black to match the rest of the bike, and you wont see the dirt as easily.  The more I think about doing up the bike the more I really want to, but theres only a few small problems I know sweet nothing about how to build a bike or where to start on what it come to painting the engine. On the plus side i know that I need to sand and prime the frame before I paint it.

Motorbike

August 16, 2007 · 4 Comments

So my poor GPX 750 R is currently sitting in the garrage not a happy bike.  Its MOT date has passed and I have to get parts to sort it out before I can get it MOT’d.

This is got me thinking of a winter project to keep my bussy.  I was thinking of taking the bike appart and spraying the fame black again as there are a few spots where rust might be try to poke though.  This then lead onto the wheel rims gold being turn gold, as it will look good againts the black of the body.

Now last night was try to sleep but couldn’t I was thinking about the project and more importantly getting a new screen for the MOT as my was shattard when it roled ino the garrage wall (ok so i droped it as it wasn’t on the stand properly). This then brought me to the Belly pan which part of it has melted thought as my exhoust must have touch it.  Do I try to fing a new belly pan on ebay or do I use fiberglass to fix it???

So my little project of repainting the frame and cleaning up the engine, (in my head) has now turning to a compleated rebuild of the bike, which is what happened last year.

Do I do all the work and get the bike to look sexy for a its 20th year on the road??  Or do I just do the basics and get her to remember that she old???

Just Call me a Machanic (well sort of)

August 7, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Ok so its a bit fare fetched to think that I could evern consider myself a machanic, I dont know the first thing about cars and even less about my bike.
But I have just managed (with help from others) to replace the flasher unit (controles the indacators) in my Audi.  I’m so proude of myself, my dad is probable think it about time you learn about the car.

The Audi is like a cross between a mechano and lego car, when it come to removing the center units.  Dont get me rong its a very lovely car, but the center unit face place is just cliped on (I descovered this when trying to the get flaser unit out last week) and then the components are just cliped into place.

Like I said I know nothing about cars but I tought that it would have been a case unscrewing different bit and taking out the glove box, etc. But I was wrong, just unclip the face plat and slide a screw driver into the gap and push out the hazzard light button and flasher unit.  It was go being able to do something like that.

Now I’m going to try and replace the side light, next I might even try an oil change or breaks???  (with my dads help ofcourse ;) )

Weeks pass and though lessen.

August 6, 2007 · 1 Comment

I have a very good rule for my blog, well a few very good rule but this is number one.  I dont Blog unless I have something to Blog about. Hence the lake of entries over the last month or so.

I remember as akid and even until I left uni the weekend lasted longer than they currently do.  I dont know why this was.  But more and more it seams like I finish work at 5 on friday, get home have dinner and then its Monday morning agin.  I gues that is want is mean but time flying by.

So this on a bornign Saturday night I ended-up watching a moving called “instinct”, the plot was an american professor who studied garilla’s when to africa became a menber fo their family, was lost to human for 2 years.  he was fond killed to game keepers and send to prission in africa, US governement get him out and put him in a high security mental prission and he is to be evalliauted to see if he can start trial.  The srink who is evaluating him has to under stand why he had givne up speaking to people and find out why he killed the game keepers in africia. Not my usual sort of move but it got me thinking.

During the move Antany Hopkins tells the srink about how man had evolved for tribes that only killed enought live stock, eat enough food and knew how to work the earth into what is now call civilization.  This is where my though started to kick in, (rair I know this funcation is usual saved to get me out of sh1t).  Are we acutally civilized or are  we just kidding ourself??

Lest look at the facts, the white man (how claimed to be the most civilized) came to countries like africa and brought civilization to the savagages.  But civilizatoin his destroied more then that has created.

People beleive that evolving beond our primial instincts is a good thing, but I’m not so sure.  Ok so we dont go out a club each other to death for no reason(which I beleive was never done anyway but history would have you beleive that the savages did it all the time), oh weight that happens all the time only now there is a law against it and its called murrder.  We dont mate with every female we can, Oh weight we do its call being slapper or tramp.  We dont go round killing more live stock than we need, oh weight we do its call greed and we even bread animal in battary farms to keep up with this greed.

SO the question I put to you is this, has civilization really helped us to evolved or de-evolve????
